STOREPROTECT with Basil Fry

StoreProtect is Basil Fry’s award-winning innovative solution for customers’ goods protection in self-storage.

StoreProtect allows self-storage operators to offer their customers protection for their goods in storage, saving them the hassle of looking for cover elsewhere.

StoreProtect is available for all sizes of operation, whether it’s a single container site or a large multi-site operation and provides the operator with an additional service for their customers.

Over 50% of the SSA UK’s members’ facilities already utilise StoreProtect.

How Does StoreProtect Work?

In conjunction with bespoke contract conditions provided by Basil Fry, StoreProtect allows operators to agree to an enhanced limit of liability up to the maximum replacement value declared by the customer. Most storage agreements default to a limited liability position which is commonly £100 per customer.

Basil Fry Underwriting, in turn, provides an insurance policy to the operator that agrees to pay for loss or damage to these customers’ goods where liability is accepted in accordance with the operator’s licence agreement and the StoreProtect Addendum.

To proceed, your customers are simply required to:

  • Declare the maximum replacement value of their items.
  • Review and agree to the terms and conditions of the licence agreement and StoreProtect Addendum.
  • Pay StoreProtect fees charged by the operator for the additional service provided.

Key Benefits of StoreProtect

  • Convenience for Customers: Customers do not need to spend time sourcing their own protection.
  • No Excess: Unlike many online offerings, there is no excess for customers to pay in the event of a claim.
  • Continuous Protection: Unlike other online arrangements, which may lapse during the storage period, StoreProtect ensures the cover remains in place for the entire duration of the contract as long as the customer pays the StoreProtect fees charged by the operator.
  • New-for-Old Settlement: The basis of settlement under StoreProtect is on a new-for-old basis, replicating household insurance policies, however, with the additional advantage of agreeing to settle vermin claims (which are commonly excluded).
  • Expert Claims Handling: Customers benefit from direct access to RCS, Basil Fry’s in-house claims settlement team. Handling around 3,000 – 5,000 customers’ goods claims annually, they are recognised as one of the industry’s most experienced teams in the UK.
  • Charging for StoreProtect: Each Operator can set their own StoreProtect charges. The charge should represent fair value for the service being provided.
